When a person applies for change in name, the GST officer approves the change after examining the application. The change in name is approved within 15 days only after verifying Form GST REG-15. The reform is given validity from the day it is approved.

What documents required for change of company name in GST registration?

For change in GST registration, some important documents have to be attached with the form.

  • Details of your land and room : If you are changing the name of the land on which the building or room in which the company is running, you will have to provide the ownership papers of that land. For this you can give a property tax receipt. You can give a copy of the Municipal Corporation's account or electricity bill. This has to be paid when the land or room is in your name.
  • Rental property : If an office is running in a rented property and you are making any changes in its name, then you can give a valid rent agreement or lease agreement. You can give property tax receipt, copy of corporation account or electricity bill in the name of the landlord.
  • The land should neither be rented or owned : If the property in which the office is running is neither rented or owned, then its rules are different. The person in whose name the property is named will have to attach a consent letter along with the ownership papers. The documents mentioned above can be given in the title paper.
  • What to do if there is no rent agreement : An affidavit detailing the date from which you have taken possession of the property will have to be attached with the GST form. With this you can submit a copy of the electricity bill.
  • If you have an office in SEZ : If your office is in a Special Economic Zone and you are changing its name or changing GST registration, then it will be necessary to attach any document issued by the Government of India for SEZ.
